how do you clean up your house quickly and efficiently? i need tips, i am mom of 3 and a husband?

and ft student, my hubby is a drill sargent on cleanliness and kids are getting older and making more mess, and are not as helpful but am in the process of training them( i have spoiled them all). what are tips that can make my house clean and organized in less time. thanks.

make them part of the clean up process. i also have three kids (8,6 and 6 months) and am in college. the biggest help to me, is a chore list. the kids each have one that gives them each two small chores (but helpful ones) to do each day and then all the other stuff i have them help with, i make it a game or a competition. if you make it look fun or make it fun, they will help. if they refuse to help- take things from them. if they are asked to do something and they do not, turn the tv or radio or video games off until it is done. take their cell or keep the house phone with you. a couple times of going without things, they will help to get it tout of the way. make a list for yourself too. put all of the biggest things at the top (and most important ones) then list the smallest and less important ones closer to the bottom and X them off as you get them done. dont beat yourself up if it takes you longer than you hoped to get the list done. then once you are done- make a chore list for yourself. assign yourself certain jobs on each day and focus on getting those done. then keep everything else picked up throughout the day. the less that piles up means the less you will have to do. this really helps me and everyone who comes in says my house is soo clean. and i am not killing myself. it sounds a little obsessive but it works! try labeling plastic bins to keep things organized too. i tell the boys that i dont care if they act like they are shooting hoops to get the stuff in there, as long its there and not broken! they actually keep score!
