have your Parents ever tried to change your style when you were a teen?
my mom hates my style. everytime we go somewhere she always says go up stairs and change your clothes. she says i cover up to much. and that i have no color in my life cuz i dont wear bright colors like orange and pink. that draws attention and i dont want attention from everybody. i just want to look cute. she should be happy im not leaving the house looking like a ghetto girl.
you’re absolutely right. I was the same way as a teenager – I never wore lots of different colors, mostly neutral colors and I didn’t want to stand out, but I was comfortable. And my mom was the same as yours – she always had something to say about what I wore, how I talked, etc. But now that I’m older and have two daughters I don’t tell them how to dress, unless they want to show too much skin then I’d say change your clothes. You’re mom should be happy that you’re not wanting to show too much – you show maturity and respect for yourself. I know it’s hard when your parents give you a hard time. It’ll make you a better mom though when you remember how you felt as a teenager. Good Luck!!
