Why is my Mom’s Dachshund so nervous around me?
We’ve had him for about 5 years and he’s always nervous around me. Whenever I go to pick him up, he puts his tail between his legs or puts his ears down. He hasn’t been abused and he’s never really been yelled at – he’s a spoiled dog.
I’ve already tried treats and even bits of bologna or turkey (shame on me, i know) and kept trying for a few months straight but no improvement.. Yes we’ve had him since he was a puppy.
One question for you, I’m wondering if you pick up your mom’s dachshund the say way she does? If you’re way taller and you pick him up really quickly he could just be afraid of the swiftness and height. Dogs are very acute to that. Try playing with him on the floor and let him come to you….. good luck!
