“The littlest victim of Edmonton’s mean streets is a five-year-old boy whose family can’t afford to send him to his slain dad’s funeral.
“It would be a miracle if someone could help us out,” said Sarah McDonald, the boy’s mom, from their Kitchener, Ont. home. “It would be wonderful.”
The struggling mom doesn’t have the cash for two plane tickets that would allow Robert to see his dad one last time on Friday.”

Well, that’s a tragedy, and a shame that in this country anyone should have to be deprived like that. When is the government going to start providing transportation services for the poor and disadvantaged? The right to travel services should be as universally accessible as health care services, or the word “right” has no meaning. Surely the megarich can suck up a little tax on their private jets and Bentleys to fund universal travel access?
Isn’t that the job of family and local charity?
