government grants scholarships moms
Question about FAFSA preparers and financial aid for single moms?
I’m filling out the FAFSA for financial aid for college. I was wondering if anyone used a FAFSA preparer and if they thought it was worth the money and also if you’d recommend the specific company you used. P.S. For those familiar w/ FAFSA and not the FAFSA preparer it’s kind of like getting your taxes done rather than DIY on-line.
Also, I’m going back to finish my degree in nursing after a nasty divorce. I’m now a single mom. I don’t mind working hard, but also want to be able to spend time w/ my child as the dad is not involved at all. I know that the sacrifice of time will be worth it in the long run as it’s best for both my daughter and I. I’m not asking for a hand out, but more a hand up. I work full time and don’t use any government assistance. I’m interested in any useful info you have on grants, loans, scholarships etc.
I would suggest you fill it out yourself and use the helpline if necessary. Any local high school guidance counselor or college counselor can also assist you with it. Save that money for tuition!
I would check out the school scholarships in the College of Nursing and then also check out www.fastweb.com. It has a ton of questions but they are thorough and will send a mass of scholarships that you may qualify for- better to apply and get turned down then never apply and lose money you could have had.
